I've received so much help on the way, and there are so many people that have affected my life in ways they (or even I) might not know. I wish I could enumerate all of them, but sometimes it cannot even be done in words. So, I'd like to express my gratitude for the people that were instrumental in my college career. Regardless, you all have my endless love.
Academics
-
Dr. John Loeser and Dr. John Mayer, for allowing me a creative outlet to express pain in ways that I would have otherwise been blinded to.
-
Dr. Sasha Senderovich and Professor Kyle Trembley, for reminding me why I wanted to do my major in the first place and the beauty of International Studies
-
Dr. Maralyssa Bann, for showing me that despite the Kafka-esque nature that is the American healthcare system, there is no heroism in intellectualizing pain. Optimism (in spite of it) is a radical act.
-
Dr. Jessica Beyer, one of the best professors in the JSIS departments, and forever grateful for gently guiding me to Task Force. One of the most unique experiences I've had relating to policy, and one I will certainly not forget.
-
Dr. Nancy Kenney, for shedding light onto the misconceptions (and psycho-horrors) of womanhood in all its messy glory.
-
Dr. Amanda Friz, for showing me that health communications is just as important to medicine as the practice itself.
Extracurriculars
-
Dr. Jennifer Rabbitts, for showing me how wonderful and tedious and beautiful and horrifying the research process and medicine can be. I'm incredibly grateful for you helping open new doors for me.
-
Dr. Akhila Rajan, for giving me my first exposure to the research process.
-
Jon Thurnstrom, for coordinating the COPE program at Swedish, and affording me new volunteering opportunities and exposure to patients I otherwise would not have had.
-
Cass Nguyen and Robin Searcy, for being the best people to happen to the HFS department, truly I could not have gone without you both.
Personal
-
To my family, for their emotional and moral support through my academic career, guidance, and wisdom.
-
Omi, my dog because he's stupid and really cute.
-
My friends, because they're even more stupid <3*
*For getting me through dark places, for their long and deep conversations with me, for helping me breathe after a long day. I'll remember each laugh and tear.
